Australia Cracks Down on Illegal Gambling Websites

In an effort to safeguard citizens from illicit wagering, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is taking strong action against unlawful betting platforms. They have instructed internet service providers to restrict access to an even greater number of these sites.

These platforms violate Australian regulations by providing services such as virtual casinos and slot games without the necessary authorizations. They may also be promoting these offerings illegally.

Among the recent websites targeted for blocking are names like Jogi Casino and Dundee Slots. Commencing in 2019, the ACMA has shut down close to a thousand of these platforms and compelled over 200 illicit operations to cease their activities within Australia. They are exercising heightened vigilance in this regard during major sporting competitions like the Women’s World Cup, where individuals might be more inclined to engage in gambling.

Inside Australia, numerous gaming organizations were found to have broken the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001. This finding, revealed in March, initiated an inquiry by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). Entities like Lucky7even, 50 Crowns, and Zota Bet are currently under scrutiny. The ACMA has intervened before, issuing warnings to providers such as Mad Entertainment (also called 金狮娱乐), Paloma Media (managing 雷神之锤), and Dama and Friolion (connected to Betibet) for similar transgressions.
