The Biathlon Integrity Unit (BIU) has teamed up with Sportradar Integrity Services, a branch of Sportradar, to oversee wagering actions within the sport. This initiative seeks to protect the fairness of biathlon contests, including the esteemed IBU World Championships and World Cup.
Sportradar will employ its advanced Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS) to examine all IBU events for questionable betting trends. Any warning signs will be swiftly relayed to the BIU for additional scrutiny. This alliance expands upon a current connection between the two groups, with the BIU having utilized Sportradar’s knowledge and inquiry services since 2020.
Greg McKenna, director of the BIU, stressed the significance of the collaboration, stating that it emphasizes their dedication to preserving an even playing field. Andreas Krannich, Managing Director of Sportradar Integrity Services, pointed out the increasing worldwide betting fascination with biathlon, making this pact even more vital.
To ensure fairness in biathlon events, the IBU is collaborating with the IBIA. This alliance demonstrates their commitment to preventing dishonesty and safeguarding the sport’s integrity. They will be working in close coordination to maintain honesty.
Separately, Sportradar, a sports betting technology provider, has extended its agreement with Betway.
