To safeguard Australians from illicit wagering, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is taking strong action against websites that violate regulations. They’ve instructed all internet providers in Australia to restrict access to these shady gambling platforms.
Essentially, these unlawful operators are engaging in activities such as providing online casinos and slot games without authorization, a serious offense. They are also prohibited from promoting these illicit games.

Since 2019, the ACMA has been diligently shutting down these unlawful sites – nearly a thousand of them! They even persuaded over 220 illegal gambling operations to cease targeting Australians entirely. Last March, the Australian media regulator (ACMA) gave official notices to a number of internet betting firms discovered to be breaking the 2001 Interactive Gambling Act. The list included well-known brands such as Lucky7even, 50 Crowns, and Zota Bet, but it also exposed the secretive parent corporations controlling things from the shadows. Among them were groups like Mad Entertainment (the force behind the glamorous Golden Lion Casino), Paloma Media (creators of the booming Thor’s Hammer slots), and Dama and Friolion (the pair managing the Betibet platform).
