Flutter Appoints New CFO, Jonathan Hill Moves to COO Role

Flutter has declared that Jonathan Hill will be leaving his position as Chief Financial Officer to take on a new role as Group Chief Operating Officer. Paul Edgecliffe-Johnson has been chosen to take over as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director.

Hill will join the Executive Committee as Chief Operating Officer in the coming year, Flutter stated. The company added that the new role will help “maximize the advantages of its global reach and support the strategic direction of the business.”

He will continue in his current role until Edgecliffe-Johnson joins the company in the first half of 2023 to ensure a seamless handover of responsibilities.

Edgecliffe-Johnson currently holds the position of Chief Financial Officer and Group Strategy Director at InterContinental Hotels Group, a role he has held since 2014. Before this, he held a number of senior vice president positions within the hospitality sector.

Before joining InterContinental Hotels Group in 2004, Edgecliffe-Johnson was a Deputy Head of Corporate Finance at HSBC.

“I am thrilled that Paul will be joining us as Group CFO next year,” said Flutter CEO Peter Jackson.

We are certain that Paul’s abilities and background will be a significant advantage as we progress and take advantage of the opportunities ahead. His contributions will be essential as we continue to implement our plan.

I would also like to express my gratitude to Jonathan for his hard work and commitment to Flutter. We are lucky that he will continue to share his knowledge in his new position as COO.

Flutter Chairman Gary McGann stated: “The board is excited to welcome Paul, a highly skilled leader, to the group. We are eager to collaborate with him and the rest of the team in the future. I am also looking forward to continuing to work with Jonathan in his new role.”
